Functional Patterns Arizona

Frequently asked questions

  • HOW OFTEN SHOULD I TRAIN?

We recommend training twice a week if you are new to Functional Patterns. Most of our results are clients that train twice a week for 6 months to a year.

  • WHAT SHOULD I DO OUTSIDE OF TRAINING? CAN I KEEP LIFTING WEIGHT, YOGA, CYCLING ETC?

We recommend stopping all activities outside of the training we do at the facility. Specifically other training modalities, since most are damaging to peoples structures long term.

Focusing on myofascial release, addressing compulsive eating habits, optimizing sun intake/sleep/getting into nature is far more beneficial when combined with FP training in helping clients achieve their goals.

  • HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO FEEL BETTER/ START SEEING CHANGES?

This depends on each individual client and the specific issues they are dealing with. Some clients experience pain relief within a couple sessions, some within weeks, others over months.

What helps clients progress faster with their bodies is following the protocols we recommend outside of our training sessions. This includes cutting out grains/seed oils from their diets, eliminating any substance addictions, getting into the sun and nature more often. This includes adopting a movement elimination protocol as well.

The more introspective clients can be about their behaviors both conscious and unconscious, as well as intentionally trying to address them will help their training exponentially over the course of their time training with us.

  • SHOULD I WORK ON THE 10 WEEK ONLINE COURSE BEFORE SCHEDULING IN PERSON TRAINING SESSIONS?

We recommend all clients to get the 10 week online course since it is a great resource to build a solid foundation for training.

It is a great supplement to have while working with a trainer, since it will allow you to understand what’s going on during sessions faster. However it is not necessary to start working in person with a trainer 1 on 1.

That being said, most clients that get great results work on the 10 week online course in conjunction with training in person 1 on 1.

  • WHAT IS THE ULTIMATE GOAL OF FP TRAINING?

Since it is recommended we stop doing training weight lifting, stretching and mobility. What should I be doing to stay fit and active once my body is where I want it to be?

Our goal is to create high performing bodies with low maintenance. Clients should be able to do outside for a hike, run, or play any sport of their choosing without having to worry about pains and risk of injury.

Someone looking to get into shape shouldn’t have to spend 5 days a week, 2-3 hours a day training focusing on strength, flexibility cardio etc just to be decently in shape and unfortunately usually in pain/discomfort due to sloppy and inefficient training modalities.

We are looking to eliminate this by helping our clients build sustainable bodies that can move pain free, so they can continue to be contributing members of society.
